Shayla & John -Wedding Bells!

Getting Ready for the Big Day

I met with Shayla a few weeks before the wedding. She didn’t know what exactly she wanted; however, she did know that she wanted “getting ready” photos on her wedding day. I offered a few ideas to her and she was excited about them! I love photographing details, there is just something about close-up pictures that gets that gets me in the heart!

A Beautiful Day

The weather was beautiful for Shayla and John’s wedding on September 8th. I met Shayla and her bridesmaids at the Staybridge Hotel and Suites on Genesee Street and backs right up to the Genesee River. The river gave us a lovely backdrop for her pre-wedding photographs.

The Bridesmaids

Shayla’s color scheme was gold and purple. Shayla’s dress was a soft cream color and absolutely stunning! It had a sweetheart neckline, which buttoned up the back and a long train that bustled. The girls’ dresses were a beautiful purple, which each bridesmaid had a different style of dress of which each was beautiful. Their flowers were white which offset the dresses perfectly!

Saying I Do

Ark of the Covenant Church of God by Faith was where Shayla and John exchanged their vows. Afterwards, the reception was at Rivers Edge Party House. The Maid of Honor was Whitney, who has been Shayla’s friend for over 10 years. They grew up together and attended high school together. The Matron of Honor was Karla, she is Shayla’s cousin. Shayla’s other bridesmaids were Zharia, another of Shayla’s cousins, Brianna, another high school friend of 10 years, Amber a friend that Shayla met while working at JC Penney and Lori who Shayla met at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

How They Met!

The love story behind the wedding… Shayla and John met through mutual friends. Shayla’s friend Shaniqua was friends with a mutual of John, Tim who ended up being John’s Best Man. Tim and Shaniqua made Shayla and John exchange phone numbers even though they didn’t want to! And to that you could say “the rest was history” because that was 4 years ago, and they haven’t stopped talking since.
